Emma Ongman is an interdisciplinary artist, self-taught musician, and arts administrator. Working with photography, video, audio, and ceramics, she explores the poetics of image failure as a tool to engage with the aftermath of loss and the ongoing work of suicide prevention. She embraces tech-accidents and the recycling of materials as reflections on non-linear growth, adaption, and transformation.
Ongman holds a dual major Bachelor of Arts Honours degree with Distinction from the University of Guelph and has received grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Guelph Arts Council. She has been an artist in residence at Céline Bureau (Montréal, QC), Roundtable Residency (Toronto, ON), and Ed Video (Guelph, ON). In summer 2026, she will curate an exhibition at McBride Contemporain and undertake a ceramics residency at Centre des arts visuels, culminating in an exhibition at Galerie McClure in August. Ongman currently lives and works in Montréal.
